Seasons and Adaptations
Objective: Students will identfiy different components of a habitat (such as weather and seasons), how they change, and how the animals adapt to the changes.
Materials:
1. Projector/smartboard to show videos
2. Large paper for students
3. Markers, colored pencils
4. Four pictures of animals that adapt to their habitat (more if needed)
Events of Instruction:
1. Show video of beavers Beavers and discuss adaptations. List on board/chart paper
2. Show video of penguins and disucss adaptations. List on board/chart paper
3. Divide class into four groups (or more if needed) and pass out one picture of an animal each (or more if needed)
4. Have students draw and color a picture of the animal and label the picture with parts that help the animal adapt to its habitat
5. Have groups stand up and present their animal and its adapataions to its environment
Assessment: Assess the students animal and adaptations project for correct adaptations and an understanding of the concept of adaptations
